The human experience is full of unpredictability and paradox, joys and sorrows, successes and failures. We can't escape any of these experiences.

Mindfulness meditation has exploded in popularity in recent years due to its ability to help us work with life's unavoidable ups and downs. Meditation is also proven to help us reduce stress and understand and relate to challenging feelings in healthier ways.

Along with these benefits, and perhaps most importantly, mindfulness offers us the opportunity to learn to be fully present and open to whatever is happening in our own experience, just as it is.

Through this direct attention, peace and happiness grow in our lives; we learn to be kinder and more accepting of ourselves and bring this awareness into our relationships and the world we share.

If you've wanted to learn how to meditate or renew the meditation practice you already have, we invite you to join this four-week Foundations of Mindfulness online course to explore the practice of mindfulness meditation in a warm, supportive environment.

We will emphasize experiential practice, including instructions for sitting and discussing and clarifying common challenges that come up in meditation. We will also explore how we can bring this practice of presence into our everyday lives and learn how to move beyond struggle and procrastination into this profound, transformative practice.

WHAT STUDENTS ARE SAYING:

"Taking this course has allowed me to realize perhaps one of the best gifts I’m able to give myself. After taking up a daily practice and working on the skills presented in the course, I’m finally making a habit of being gentle with myself. I can remind myself that it’s okay to be teammates with that part of me that, previously, I tried to push aside or ignore.

I’m finding that more often than not, I’m also able to extend that gentleness and kindness to others and it’s becoming second nature. I very much recommend the foundations course to anyone looking for a bit more lightness in their lives."

- Trent Sartain - Foundations of Mindfulness Participant

"This foundations course was great! I heard David say on a podcast once that there are so many intro to meditation classes out there and it can end up feeling like a lot of “first dates.” This foundations class definitely strengthened my relationship to my meditation practice, made me feel more confident in my posture and technique, and deepened my base of knowledge to draw from.

The support of the online curriculum and community, as well as our humorous, honest, and grounded classes/group helped me stick with my daily practice. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who is wanting to build their personal practice or dip a toe into the idea of attending a teacher training."

- Sarah Lavelle (she/they) - Foundations of Mindfulness Participant
