Join us for a special in-person or online workshop with senior Buddhist teacher David Nichtern to contemplate the special quality of our “precious human birth.”

In the context of the six realms of the Wheel of Life, birth in the human realm is considered auspicious because it is primarily in this realm that one has access to the Buddha and his teachings of the awakened mind. Our human lives are rare and precious, free and well favored, and we are encouraged to live intentionally with this in mind.

In the Buddhist tradition, we contemplate this idea of “precious human birth” as part of a teaching called the Four Reminders: four thoughts that can wake us up to the tremendous opportunity we have right now to turn our thoughts and actions toward transforming negative habits and cultivating awareness, compassion, and skillful means in this very lifetime.

This workshop will include meditation practice and instruction, a talk by David, and group discussion. We look forward to being “live” with our Tibet House & Dharma Moon sangha again!

David Nichtern

David Nichtern is a senior teacher in the lineage of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. This tradition combines a contemporary, secular approach to meditation with the ancient practices and philosophies of Tibetan Buddhism.

David is also a four-time Emmy winner and two-time Grammy nominee, and a successful entrepreneur with over 40 years of experience integrating spiritual practice and everyday living. He is the author of Awakening From The Daydream; Re-imaging The Buddha’s Wheel of Life and Creativity Spirituality and Making A Buck on Wisdom Publications.
