REGISTER NOWEastern spiritual traditions have profoundly shaped the modern mindfulness movement. Two of the most influential—Buddhism and Bhakti (devotional chanting)—took root in the West in the late 1960s and continue to inspire practitioners today.
Join Krishna Das, the most well-known voice of Bhakti chanting (Kirtan) in the West, and David Nichtern - a senior Buddhist teacher, founder of Dharma Moon, guitarist in Krishna Das’ band, and producer of several of his albums - for a warm and engaging conversation about these two paths, their shared roots, and how they intersect in contemporary spiritual practice.
With decades of experience and a deep friendship, KD and David will explore the wisdom, practices, and insights of their traditions—with their signature humor and down to earth perspective.
Following the discussion, David will share details about the upcoming Dharma Moon Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training program starting June 13th. You’ll get an overview of the renowned program, have the chance to ask questions, meet the teachers, and see if the Dharma Moon Meditation Teacher Training is right for you.
We hope to see you there! All are welcome.

“Playing in the Krishna Das band with David introduced me to his wisdom. Dharma Moon’s MMTT taught me a powerful teaching method I could rely on. The day I graduated, I felt ready to share these timeless techniques with others. I’m now teaching both classes and individuals in a way that feels natural and deeply fulfilling to me.”Â
— Noah Hoffeld, Krishna Das Band member and Dharma Moon Meditation Teacher training graduate
“I have had the pleasure of playing with David Nichtern in Krishna Das's band for many years. He has also been a good friend and mentor. A couple of years ago, I participated in Dharma Moon's Meditation Teacher Training program, and I found it incredibly valuable. While meditation wasn't new to me, the training provided a deeper grounding in the practice and gave me the confidence to share it with others. Dharma Moon's approach is rooted in tradition and lineage, yet it's remarkably accessible and attuned to our modern world. Beyond the teachings, it was a joy to connect with such a wonderful group of people—it was both professional and warmly supportive. I recommend this training to everyone and their mother—advanced and beginner practitioners alike.”

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Krishna Das
Few figures in modern spirituality, particularly in the West, have impacted the hearts and minds of contemporary seekers as Krishna Das has. A devotee of the North Indian Saint, Neem Karoli Baba (Maharajji), Krishna Das has played an enormous role in popularizing the traditional practice of kirtan in the West, taking the call-and-response chanting out of yoga centers and temples and into concert halls, becoming a worldwide icon and the best-selling western chant artist of all time.
In a career spanning more than two decades, KD has released 16 acclaimed full-length albums, his music serving as an easily approachable gateway to the devotional traditions of the East. Along the way, he has evolved into an accessible if somewhat reluctant teacher, and a spiritual friend to many. He travels the world sharing his kirtan practice and stories of his life on the Path, of Maharajiji, and advocates for bringing regular spiritual practice into our lives through retreats and workshops.

David Nichtern
David is a senior teacher in the lineage of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. This tradition combines a contemporary, secular approach to meditation with the ancient practices and philosophies of Tibetan Buddhism.
David is also a four-time Emmy winner and two-time Grammy nominee, and a successful entrepreneur with over 40 years of experience integrating spiritual practice and everyday living. He is the author of Awakening From The Daydream: Reimagining The Buddha’s Wheel of Life and Creativity Spirituality & Making A Buck on Wisdom Publications.
